Latin Name: Buccinum undatum

Also known as rough or wave whelk, northern whelk, buckie, conchs coo coos. A marine snail native to the North Atlantic, characterized by thick, spirally, coiled shell and a large muscular foot. Shell is typcially chalky grey to grey-yellow in color, with irregular light and dark segments. Meat ranges from fresh (live) to whole cooked, frozen, pickled, smoked and canned.
